Information

Manual Match

You can now easily tell why a message has not matched automatically as the information in the relevant column for the missing/incomplete data will be displayed in red. It’s possible for a single message to have more than one problem (e.g. it may be missing a recipient and the display may not be compliant).

Each message will need to be addressed in turn. After selecting a message to manually match you will be given the appropriate controls to fix any problems.

If the patient cannot be automatically matched a patient search is available to manually locate the correct patient.

If the recipient cannot be automatically matched then a drop-down list of all providers will be available to select the correct provider. If this occurs regularly for a specific sender you may need to contact them to ensure they have your correct details recorded in their system.

If the sender cannot be identified you have the ability to either add the senders messaging identifier to an existing Address book record or to add a new one if you do not have them on file already.

If the received message is not compliant with HL7 standards related to display of data it will be marked as either ‘Not Compliant Display’ or ‘Display identified, not compliant’. A compliant message will be marked as “Compliant Display”. Only “Not Compliant Display’ will cause the result to be routed to manual message matching and shown in red. Any “Not Compliant Display” messages will need to be checked for clinical suitability and then the ‘Display Compliance’ tick box will need to be ticked on. If the message does not comply with the messaging standards Stat cannot be sure it is displaying the complete and correct data contained in the message. In this case human intervention is required to ensure the validity of the data that will be presented to the user.Version 3.11 of Stat includes a totally new mechanism for sending and receiving electronic messages (like pathology and radiology).
This new version includes a standardisation of the folders used for importing of electronic messages across all clients as well as enforcement of the attached 'Messaging Information for Stat Sites.pdf'. This includes enforcement of the HL7 standards for incoming clinical messages.
With the rewrite of electronic messaging Stat has a new feature that alerts practice staff to inbound electronic messages that have been received where it is not 100% clear what the data to display to the doctor should be. Stat Health have a PDF document that outlines in specific details which Australian standards are used and what we expect to see. This document can be supplied to any senders who are not complying with the standards for displaying data.
In the event that a message complies with one of the relevant Australian standards or guidelines (AS 4700.1-1998, AS 4700.2-2004, AS 4700.6-2004, HB 262-2002, HB 262-2008, HB 262-2012, HB 235-2007) then there will be no extra steps required of the practice - these messages will be marked as "Compliant Display".For messages where Stat Health cannot unambiguously determine the correct data to display, the message will be flagged as 'Not Compliant'. This will force unvalid results like this into the manual message matching area of Stat where the users can confirm that the message is complete and intact. There is a tick box to certify that the message is correct which will allow the message to be processed successfully. This is done to ensure that only unambiguous and correct clinical data is recorded in the patients record and displayed to the clinician.

If your practice is receiving messages that Stat is now flagging as "Not compliant", you will need to contact the message carrier that delivered the message (Medical Objects) and advise them us and advise that the message is not meeting the standards set out by Stat Health. Provide them us with the attached PDF document and advise them of that the file that is not compliant. They will then make a change on their software or contact the sender to have them correct the issue. In our experience this is all that is required to resolve the issue.
